Red Cross Appeal Certificate

We have received the Certificate of Appreciation from Red Cross this week, and we are happy to upload it here for you to see. Magnitude 9 Exhibition has been a registered fund raiser with Australian Red Cross where proceeds have been sent to the Red Cross Appeal for Japan & Pacific Disaster Relief 2011

The total sum of $8,100 that was able to be raised is all because of everyone's generosity who were able to contribute to this cause. Thank you to all who made donations to make this happen.

There are many charity exhibitions and events that are doing their best to raise awareness and funds to help the communities in Japan. We wish them every success in reaching more aid to those in need. The Japan Foundation has been a great point of network for such events.

It's a wrap!!

Magnitude 9 Exhibition has come to a close, and we have made the final summary to the Australian Red Cross Appeal for Japan & Pacific Disaster Relief. Thank you to the 150+ visitors who have come to Mils Gallery during 11-15 May 2011 and made this Red Cross Appeal Fund Raiser worthwhile in showing our support for the people in Japan.

Every donation, purchase of artwork, sponsorship and volunteer work that made this charity exhibition happen has meant so much in building up to the final amount raised. It is amazing to see all the contributions no matter how small or large has been able to be collected to make a generous show of support.

final funds raised :
$8100

We are happy to have been able to be a platform to remember all who have been lost by the March 11 Tsunami, and to those who are in the process of making their first steps to find their feet. Our thoughts are constantly with you.

This exhibition could not have happened without the generosity of the 9 artists, you can find their artist profiles to have an insight into their connection to Japan.

The support by our major sponsors Canon Australia & Pixel Perfect Pro Labs has been incredible, we cannot imagine the amount of funds being raised without their generous support in printing all artworks. And our event sponsors Peroni, Peter Lehmann Wines, Zushi Restaurant & Planet Cake have made the events such a success for the general public to be able to come to.

Thank you for following this fund raiser, a Behind the Scenes page gives you an insight into how we came about making it all happen. We wanted to pass on what we learnt from this exhibition to other creative individuals and fund raisers who are planning on a similar event. We wish the affected communities in Japan as much aid and productivity in the recovery process.

A Big Thank You!

We are so happy to announce the current total in donations which have been raised from this Magnitude 9 Exhibition : Japan Tsunami Disaster Relief! Thank you to the 150+ visitors who have come to Mils Gallery during 11-15 May 2011 and made this Red Cross Appeal Fund Raiser worthwhile in showing our support for the people in Japan.

current funds raised :
$6500

We are on our final week of sales of the artworks that are still available, which can be found here on the artworks for sale! page. We encourage you to contact us if you are interested and would like to purchase or arrange a viewing at Yann's photography studio.

We would also like to remind everyone of the opportunity to write a letter to the children in Japan. A letter drive has been organised by Hand Delivered by LOVE based in New York, who are providing the service to collect, translate and personalise letters which will be delivered personally to the children in North East Japan who are living in Evacuation Centres and trying to find their feet. 300+ letters are currently due to be delivered in June.

The emotional support that a short letter can provide from across the world, is such a beautiful gesture, and so important in such times of devastation. It will only take a coffee break of your time and we encourage you to email a 200 word message to:  info@japan-earthquake-fund.com with your name, age/grade, hometown and occupation (for grown ups). A letter sample is here, and more information on their website.

Thank you for your support once again!
